Are movies adapted from books better?

Uglies

My first impression of the book Uglies by Scott Westerfeld is that it is a very interesting book with a futuristic setting. So far, I think that the character Tally is almost a stereotypical teenage girl (wanting to fit in with her friends by becoming pretty), but begins to develop more ways of thinking when she meets Shay, a rebel who doesn't want to become pretty, but only wants to be free.
I think that in the future, Shay will find some way of delaying their operations, and Tally will not tolerate it.
Uglies is a book with many interesting themes, and I hope it will be as good as it is in future chapters as it is now.
