Bend It Like Beckham SEER paragraph
The dreams of Jules were severely hindered by her mother's negative attitude. Mrs Paxton disapproved of girls playing sports, protesting that "no boy would want to go out with a girl with bigger muscles than him" and thinking that many of them were lesbians. When she witnessed Jules and Jess' fight (where they argued about love) and reunion and celebrations (in which they held hands and kissed happily), she automatically assumed that they were lesbians, based on the fact that they played sports. Eventually, she realised that her assumptions were not all correct and Jules was most happy when she was playing sport.
