Mister Tom has writted four letters by the end of the third week and had received no reply. Write the first letter that Mister Tom might have written to Will giving him news of the village.
Dear William
How have you been? I have not heard from you since you left for London. I suppose your mother keeping you busier than I thought, but you must be very happy, being able to be with her again. Have you given her the gifts from Mrs Fletcher, Mrs Thatcher and Mrs Little? I hope that they will make her feel better, and also let her know that we are thinking about you and her.
That also reminds me, have you shown her your drawings? I’m certain that your mother will be enormously proud of you when she sees them. She’ll know what kind of place you were living in, and who. Just about everything you draw makes it look better than it is, so maybe even I look a little better in your portrait of me!
Since you left, Zach has been quite miserable. He has complained to me about something called the Spooky Cot Grand Expedition, with a couple more marvellouses and splendids added in there. I think that he is still going on a picnic with George, Carrie and Ginnie on Saturday. George has promised that if they go blackberrying, he will save some blackberry jam for you when you return. Also, Miss Thorne has been quite displeased about your departure, waffling on and on about the play and how no one wishes to play your part.
I’ve been saving paper for you, although Zach has taken quite a few pieces for his “epic poem”, which he promises to have finished and posted in at least one week.
Remember that I can post your paints any time you wish. Maybe you could even show your mother how well you paint.
I hope that I’ll hear from you soon. God bless you, William.
